Renison University Student receives Scholarship Award

Sep 23, 2011

CCBR was bustling with about 45 people in attendance for this special award including representatives from the community and both local universities.

The event began with a welcome from Joanna Ochocka, Executive Director of CCBR. Rich Janzen, Research Director at CCBR, then gave an overview of the history of this award, and a report from the selection committee.  Dr. Glenn Cartwright, Principal of Renison University College followed with the keynote address. Christa Van Daele, of The Working Centre, gave a warm introduction to recipient Sabira Hudda.  Barbara Zupko, member of the CCBR board presented Sabira with the award, and then Sabira gave an inspirational speech outlining her hopes for the future.  Kokila Khanna, also a member of the CCBR board, rounded off the program with her closing remarks.  Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a lovely lunch, while meeting and mingling together.
