Shibogama Health Authority in Northern Ontario
Feb 24, 2013
Shibogama Health Authority contracted CCBR to carry out anevaluation of the Shibogama Health Innovation Project (SHIP) in Kingfisher Lake, Ontario. The purpose of this evaluation is to assess this community-driven model of care in order to make recommendations for the next phase of implementation. Shibogama is a First Nations community located in Northern Ontario. Liliana Araujo and Nghia Nguyen attended this site visit and conducted focus groups.
CCBR has worked on other projects relating to First Nations populations. In 2011, CCBR worked with UW D.I.R.E.C.T.I.O.N.S. to strengthen conference tracking, the engagement of Aboriginal youth who participate in the conference, and to evaluate its effectiveness. In 2010, we worked with Child and Family Services Timmins and District evaluating the tri-district Lions Quest Skills for Adolescence Initiative in four school boards in Cochrane North, Cochrane South, and Timiskaming. To read more about this project, go here.
