Affiliations

The Centre for Community Based Research strives to conduct community-relevant research that is of high academic quality and that is ethically sound. Our organization and staff has affiliation with the following research groups:

• CCBR is eligible to receive grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). CCBR follows a SSHRC-approved research integrity policy.

• CCBR staff are members of the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES). CCBR follows the CES guidelines for ethical conduct.

• CCBR is a cooperating site of the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology (University of Alberta).

• CCBR is an affiliated institutional member of the Joint Centre of Excellence for Research on Immigration and Settlement (CERIS), the Ontario Metropolis Centre.

• CCBR staff hold teaching and adjunct faculty positions at Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo.

Awards

The Centre for Community Based Research has received numerous awards over the years. Below are some of the most recent

• 2010 SEEK Award. CCBR Research Director, Rich Janzen, was awarded the inaugural Student Excellence Advancing Evaluation Knowledge (SEEK) award that is given jointly by the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) and Canadian Evaluation Society Education Fund (CESEF). The award was based on Rich's work in developing an evaluation framework for the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches as a part of his PhD studies. Rich presented his award-winning paper at the annual CES conference in Victoria, B.C. in May 2010.

• 2009 Social Work in Waterloo Region Bridge Training Award. CCBR together with The Working Centre, Wilfrid Laurier Faculty of Social Work, Extend-A-Family, Conestoga College, Renison Unversity College and the Waterloo Region Immigrant Employment Network (WRIEN), win the WRIEN's Qualification Recognition and Enhancement Work Group (QREWG) award for the Social Work in Waterloo Region Bridge Training Program.

  The award is presented annually by WRIEN to an educator, employer or service provider who engages in innovative practices for Internationally Trained Individuals related to building English language skills or qualifications recognition. 

• 2007 Ontario Trillium Foundation's Great Grants Award. CCBR together with the Greater KW Chamber of Commerce win the OTF Great Grant Award under the Human and Social Services category for the launching of the Waterloo Region Immigrant Employment Network (WRIEN). The award honours not-for-profit organizations that have made a difference in their communities.
