CCBR is partnering with Family and Children’s Services of Waterloo Region (FACS) to conduct a community-led needs and resources assessment. The purpose is to enhance support services by engaging an equity-deserving cross-section of community members. The project enlists over 20 Community Partner organizations for a Steering Committee, and these partner organizations select Community Researchers from their staff who are members of the communities they serve and fluent in their preferred languages.
FACS is dedicated to protecting and caring for children who have been abused, neglected, or are at risk of such harm. Operating as one of Ontario’s 47 independent Children's Aid Societies, FACS works within its local community to provide child protection services as mandated by the Child, Youth and Family Services Act.
The project will begin with a comprehensive desk review of existing data and reports on community needs and stakeholders. Collaborative tool development workshops will engage Community Researchers in designing tailored data collection tools and strategies, followed by training sessions that equip them with the skills to gather and synthesize information effectively. After information gathering and data analysis is complete, feedback on a findings report will be solicited during a workshop with the Community Researchers and the Steering Committee, who will also participate in developing an action plan.
