The purpose of this evaluation was to assess the process and outcomes of the Syrian and Newcomer Youth Mentorship Initiative model delivered under the Opening Doors Project at CMHA Toronto. This initiative is funded by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
Youth mentors in the Syrian and Newcomer Youth Mentorship Initiative provide a variety of supports (i.e., mental health, language, family guidance) to newcomer youth (Syrian, Somali, and from other communities) as they navigate the settlement process in Canada. The evaluation would provide indications to improve the program delivery and potentially to adapt the initiative to other settings.
