In May, Sophia Rosli will be starting her internship as a new student at the Centre for Community Based Research. This opportunity will allow her to acquire the experience and skills necessary to further develop her interest in EDI and to deepen her understanding of community-based research.
Sophia is a third-year undergraduate student, pursuing Geography and Environmental Management at the University of Waterloo.
Her academic interests lie in understanding community resilience amid natural disasters and hazards, particularly those influenced by the growing impact of climate change. Sophia’s focus includes recognizing spatial inequities, influences of cultural geography, and environmental injustices as complex factors within the disaster context. In addition to her academic pursuits, Sophia has a passion for EDI and is eager to explore how CBR, as a tool, empowers community members in decision-making.
During her spare time, Sophia enjoys taking leisurely walks around Waterloo and Kitchener, cooking, crocheting, and volunteering within the Environmental Studies community at UW.
